How exactly does my GunkOff balm #fkthegunk?

Skincare ingredients don’t have to be confusing – here’s exactly what’s in your GunkOff Cleansing Balm and why it removes the gunk.

Whilst it comes in a lovely balm form, GunkOff transforms into a luxurious oil texture once you start to work it into your skin, thanks to the warmth of your hands. It’s these oils that do the hard work to remove all the makeup, sunscreen and general grime from your face. Essentially, when you massage your cleansing balm into your skin, the beautiful oils you’re introducing work to dissolve the other oils on your skin, emulsifying to leave your skin fresh and clean.

By using oils, you’re also helping to preserve the lipid skin barrier and give back to the skin, even hydrating whilst you cleanse!

Let’s have a closer look at the hero ingredients of GunkOff and why they’re so great for your skin, no matter your skin type.

Safflower Oil

This totally underrated oil works hard for those with dry skin or acne prone skin alike. It contains essential omega fatty acids, to help deliver moisture to the skin as well as helping to calm and strengthen the skin. Safflower oil also contains around 70% linoleic acid, which is a hero for acne prevention, helping to prevent blackheads and whiteheads. Basically, it’s a great all-rounder ingredient that has something to offer for every skin concern.

Camellia Seed Oil

Camellia seed oil is another heavy hitter, helping nourish the skin with vitamins A, B, C, D and E. It also has a similar makeup and weight to sebum, the oil your skin naturally produces, meaning that it’s well absorbed into your skin. In your cleansing balm, it helps to really get in there and remove all the layers of your makeup and sunscreen, without upsetting the skin barrier.

Shea Butter

Shea butter is a popular plant lipid that is primarily used as an emollient in skincare products. This means it's great for helping to soothe and soften the skin, and can be particularly useful for those dealing with sensitivities like eczema. It’s also a rich source of antioxidants, which help to reduce oxidative stress and alleviate inflammation. As an emollient, it can also help with the absorption of other ingredients into the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is one of the most well-known and researched ingredients in modern skincare. It is naturally occurring in the skin, but can become depleted overtime due to environmental stressors. Including it in your skincare helps to defend against pollution, soothing and strengthening your skin barrier. This means that it helps to replenish dull, dry skin whilst also reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Glycerin

Naturally found in the skin, glycerin acts a humectant, helping the skin restore and retain moisture. In your cleanser, it helps to combat against dryness and works best when combined with other emollient ingredients (such as shea butter!). Since it’s already found in the skin, glycerin will naturally work for every skin type.

So there you have it! When you go through the ingredients, they each have their own part to play, as well as helping each other. It’s also why when you use GunkOff, you’re using a cleanser that’s effectively removing makeup and gunk, whilst actively giving back to your skin.
