Your first cleanse is an oil-based formula. The science behind this is that you need an oil to remove oil, because it binds to the excess oil (sebum) on your skin and brings everything else with it. So, what you’re really targeting here is
the removal of makeup and sunscreen, along with surface oils.

Your second cleanse is your water-based step. This helps shift the remaining grime and pollution, also removing anything left from your first step.

No, it shouldn’t, especially if you’re using GunkOff! Double Cleansing should reduce irritation because the formulas do the hard work for you (no harsh rubbing or scrubbing needed here!). 

Once per day, as the first part of your evening routine is really all you need. However, skincare is completely personal, so if you want to include it in your morning routine as well, that’s totally up to you. GunkOff is formulated to be gentle on the skin, so if twice a day is more your thing, that’s no problem. 

Yes! Double cleansing does so much more than just remove makeup – the first cleanse also works away at sunscreen, sweat and grime that builds up on your skin throughout the day. All of these can contribute to clogged pores, breakouts and even irritation, so it’s best to make sure you’re washing it all away.

It really shouldn’t. An oil-based formula reduces the need for harsh scrubbing – rubbing and tugging motions on the skin can be a major irritator for the skin barrier. If you think your Double Cleanse is causing damage, consider using a gentler pressure and taking your time. It could also be a great opportunity for you to give the GunkOff Double Cleanse a go! Both formulas are designed to be super effective without compromising the skin barrier. 

Sunscreen and double cleansing go hand in hand (besties!). Whilst we love that sunscreen is working hard, applying and reapplying it throughout the day can cause product build-up. Sunscreen formulas can be complex and contain oil or water-based ingredients, so doing a Double Cleanse is the best way to ensure it’s fully broken down and completely removed. If you’re breaking out and think SPF might be the culprit, make sure you’re double cleansing! It can really make a difference. 

GunkOff is designed to emulsify beautifully once you add in water, so it won’t leave a residue or film on the skin. You also only need a small amount to be effective, so if you’re ending up with a film you may be using way too much and not giving it the chance to fully break down.

Yes, you can – it’s a very effective cleanser in its own right! Whilst Double Cleansing is great, if you’re tired or your skin is just feeling hypersensitive, some nights it may feel like too much. All of us feel like that from time to time, so just using the Cleansing Balm or Melting Balm cleanser will still give your skin a deep clean.

This depends on your climate and is completely normal (phew). Both the Cleansing Balm and Melting Balm Cleanser are susceptible to temperature, due to the products lush oil ingredients. Colder climates may experience a thicker texture, whilst warmer locations may be runnier in consistency. But don’t stress, it’s still the same awesome product, just a slightly different texture.The Melting Balm Cleanser is designed to be stored in the shower, therefore using the heat to gently soften the tube texture. The Cleansing Balm tub is best located on the bathroom bench (skincare shelfie optional) and not stored in direct sunlight.

Absolutely it can! It’s a gentle and hydrating formula that gives back to the skin, so it can easily fit into your morning or evening routine, or even both if that’s your thing.

The Hydrating Gel Cleanser was formulated to be suitable for all skin types, even those who may be managing rosacea or eczema. It focuses on hydrating and soothing ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Cucumber and Niacinamide but leaves out common irritants like fragrance. Of course, if you have a skin condition, you can always check in with your dermatologist or skin therapist to make sure. 

GunkOff products are completely fragrance free, so if you’re noticing a scent in your Hydrating Gel Cleanser it’s naturally occurring from the Aloe Vera and Cucumber in the formula (ahh, the freshness).
