6 Unexpected Ways To Use Your GunkOff

6 Unexpected Ways To Use Your GunkOff

In my opinion, everyone can do with a luxe double cleanse routine, so GunkOff is already the perfect gift. However, here’s a whole other list of ways you can use the products to get even more out of them!

1. Wash Dirty Makeup Brushes

In the same way your skin needs a double cleanse to help remove makeup and grime, your makeup brushes also need a little love to keep them in top notch condition. You can use the back of your hand or a silicone brush cleaning pad to work the melted balm cleanser into the brush bristles and start to break down the built up gunk. Rinse out with warm water until it runs clean.

You can also use the Hydrating Gel Cleanser for a quick refresh or rinse if you’re in a hurry.

2. Spot Cleanse for Body Breakouts

Whether you’re a pilates princess, in your running era or getting those lifting gains, body breakouts can be a real pain to sort out. They’ll most commonly pop up on areas where the skin is sweating quite a bit or there’s friction from a seam rubbing against the skin. One of the best ways to treat these sort of breakouts is with an AHA or BHA style product, but you can help it along by spot cleansing first with your balm.

If you have an active breakout, in your post-workout shower you can work some balm cleanser into the skin first to help clear it of excess oils, sweat and even start to nourish and calm the area. You can then follow it up with your more active formulas, without anything to get in the way.

3. To Tidy Nails After a Manicure

One of the things I struggle the most with is keeping an at home manicure neat and tidy. Inevitably I end up with polish on the skin around the nail and it’s a real pain to remove without taking off the rest of my hard work. Not to mention that no matter how gentle your nail polish remover is, it can be quite irritating or feel harsh on the skin.

Instead, wait until the polish dries and gently work a small amount of your balm cleanser into the polish on the skin and it’ll help lift the section up. If it’s a bit more stubborn you can also use a cuticle pusher and get under the edge. The balm will help to soften and nourish the skin at the same time, ensuring the skin around the nails isn’t irritated.

4. Intensive Treatment for Black Heads

If you particularly struggle with blackheads and congested skin, you can use your Cleansing Balm like a more intensive treatment for that area and even help to work the blackened gunk out of the pores. Use a decent amount of the balm and work it gently into the skin in the area of concern. Keep going for a decent while, even up to 2 or 3 minutes, gently massaging the balm in small circles. You should start to see small black balls work their way out of the skin - these are sebaceous filaments - which you can simply just wash away!

5. Pre-Wash for Makeup Stains on Your Clothes

Wearing makeup is fun, getting it onto your nice white t-shirt is not fun. What you can try is using your makeup removing balm as a pre wash treatment on makeup stains, especially if it’s something like a glob of mascara that can easily be broken down. I start by first working a small amount of balm in my fingers until it’s a nice oil and then applying it to the stained area, gently massaging it into fabric.

This might be enough to remove the stain, otherwise it’s a great pre-wash and you can then apply your stain remover of choice or handwashing further with a soap.

6. Protect Your Skin When Dyeing Your Hair

Every now and then I like to mix things up with an at home box dye, such an easy way to give myself a hair refresh. What I don’t like about this process is when I inevitably get some dye on my forehead and it also tints the skin. Applying a thin layer of GunkOff balm all along your hairline can help prevent this transfer happening and protect your skin from the dye. Then, when you go to wash everything out in the shower, the balm just melts away too! You can also try this for other areas, such as when you’re doing a brow tint.

See? A Double Cleanse Duo truly is the best gift - smooth, soft, clean skin as well as a whole range of other uses to make life that little bit easier!
